Starting with 50 sows in 1981, they ended up with 180 by 2007.<br /><br />With the hog industry declining, John and Aukje decided to start raising beef instead of hogs. So the barns were renovated and today the couple has a feed lot with over 200 cattle. Together with involvement of their kids, Sid &amp; Melissa, Marianna, Derek and Christopher and their full-time help Marinus they work hard to provide a top quality product.<br /><br />The Annema\s are proud to be part of the farming community on the Island, and also proud to be offering their beef, anti-biotic and growth hormone free to the public, through Riverview Country Market.<br /><br />By raising and selling their beef local, they hope to keep the farm in the family for the next generation. They take pride and effort in bringing safe products to the customers, grown and raised on PEI.<br /><br /></div><div></div></div>');

These measures and programs help ensure the vegetables they sell are of the highest caliber.<br /><br />Dave and Rose are passionate about all aspects of their farm, business and life in general. To them, the best part of farming, explained Dave, "is when we break the ground open in the spring of the year, and the smell of fresh earth after months of sleep. The ground is ready again to place our seeds so we can see them bloom and then share them with you."</div><div></div></div>');
